March 2025 is set to be a refreshing month for students across India, packed with festival holidays and extended weekends. As the academic year nears its end, students will get plenty of opportunities to unwind and celebrate before stepping into their next session.

With major festivals like Holika Dahan, Holi, Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, Chaitra Sukhladi, and Eid-ul-Fitr, along with five weekends, this month promises a well-deserved break. Here’s a closer look at the school holidays in March 2025.

Festive Holidays in March 2025

Holika Dahan – March 13, 2025 (Thursday)

Holika Dahan symbolizes the victory of good over evil. Celebrated with bonfires across northern India, this festival holds deep cultural significance. Schools in many states remain closed, allowing students to take part in the traditional rituals and celebrations.

Holi – March 14, 2025 (Friday)

The festival of colors, Holi, follows Holika Dahan and brings people together in joyous celebrations. Marking the arrival of spring, Holi is one of India’s most vibrant festivals. With schools closed for the day, students get to enjoy an extended weekend filled with festivities, family gatherings, and, of course, colorful play.

Ugadi, Gudi Padwa, and Chaitra Sukhladi – March 30, 2025 (Sunday)

March 30 marks the beginning of the Hindu New Year, celebrated under different names in various regions. In Karnataka, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, it is known as Ugadi. Maharashtra celebrates it as Gudi Padwa, while in North India, it is called Chaitra Sukhladi.

Since the festival falls on a Sunday this year, there won’t be an additional school holiday. However, families will still celebrate with special meals, prayers, and cultural traditions.

Eid-ul-Fitr – March 31, 2025 (Monday)

One of the most important Islamic festivals, Eid-ul-Fitr, marks the end of Ramadan. Observed based on the lunar calendar, this festival is a gazetted holiday across India. Schools, government offices, and businesses remain closed as families come together for prayers, feasts, and celebrations.

Bonus Break: Five Weekends in March 2025

March 2025 brings five Saturdays and five Sundays, offering students additional time to relax. Most schools remain closed on weekends, and those with alternate Saturday holidays will still benefit from the extra breaks.

With these extended weekends, students can:

✅ Spend quality time with family and friends
✅ Catch up on hobbies and creative interests
✅ Prepare for the upcoming academic year
✅ Simply relax and recharge before exams and new classes

A Month of Rest and Celebration

With festival holidays and multiple weekends, March 2025 is shaping up to be a month of joy, tradition, and relaxation. Whether celebrating with family, enjoying the long weekends, or simply taking a break from studies, students have plenty to look forward to.
