Indian consumer technology startup Lumio, backed by Circuit House Technologies, is set to make its mark in the home entertainment industry. Founded by former Xiaomi and Flipkart executives, the brand aims to redefine customer expectations in India’s highly competitive smart TV market.

A New Approach to 4K Smart TVs

Lumio plans to introduce a fresh lineup of 4K smart TVs, developed in collaboration with Google, Dixon Technologies, and Amazon India. With over 100 brands already in the segment, the company promises a completely new take on smart TVs by addressing key customer pain points.

To strengthen its team, industry veterans from Flipkart, Lenovo, Philips, TiVo, LG, and Samsung have joined Lumio. These professionals bring expertise in product development, branding, software, quality control, sales, and after-sales service.

Strategic Partnerships & Manufacturing

Lumio has partnered with Dixon Technologies, a homegrown manufacturing giant, to produce its smart TVs. The lineup will be powered by Google’s OS, giving users access to over 400,000 movies and shows from 10,000+ apps.

For online distribution, Amazon India will serve as the exclusive e-commerce partner, ensuring a wide reach and seamless availability for customers.

CEO’s Vision for Lumio

Raghu Reddy, former Chief Business Officer at Xiaomi India and now CEO of Circuit House Technologies, expressed his vision for the brand.

Lumio is crafting products from the ground up to rewire customer expectations, easing those letdowns for a marvelous everyday viewing experience,” he stated.

Funding & Market Timing

In June 2023, Circuit House Technologies secured $4.3 million (approximately ₹37.5 crore) in funding. This expansion into the smart TV sector comes at a time when some brands are exiting the market due to slower growth, particularly in the small-sized smart TV segment.

Rising Demand for Premium Smart TVs

According to Counterpoint Research’s India Smart TV Market Analysis for Q3 2024, demand for 32-inch smart TVs is declining, while 43-inch models are gaining popularity.

Meanwhile, shipments of 4K smart TVs grew by 17% year-on-year (YoY), making up 52% of total shipments in the quarter. This shift towards premium TVs is precisely where Lumio aims to establish itself.

What’s Next?

Lumio’s first 4K smart TVs will be showcased in March 2025, promising high-end features, cutting-edge technology, and a customer-first approach. With a strong team, reliable manufacturing partners, and strategic online distribution, the brand is set to make a bold entry into India’s growing premium TV market.
