HMD Global has introduced its latest true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds, the HMD Amped Buds, just ahead of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 in Barcelona. Designed for long-lasting performance, these earbuds promise up to 95 hours of total playback when used with the charging case.
One of the standout features is the reverse charging capability, allowing users to charge their smartphones by placing them on the case’s rear panel. Alongside the Amped Buds, HMD also unveiled new smartphones for teen safety and FC Barcelona-themed handsets at MWC 2025.
HMD Amped Buds: Price and Availability
The HMD Amped Buds are priced at EUR 199 (approximately ₹18,100). They are expected to go on sale in select global markets in April.
The earbuds will be available in Black, Cyan, and Pink color options. However, HMD has not yet confirmed whether they will launch in India.
HMD Amped Buds: Features and Specifications
Premium Design with ANC Support
The HMD Amped Buds feature an in-ear design with silicone ear tips and a stem for a comfortable fit. Each earbud is equipped with a 10mm driver and three microphones, enabling active noise cancellation (ANC) and environmental noise cancellation (ENC) for clear audio in noisy environments.
Dual-Device Connectivity and Fast Pairing
Users can connect the earbuds to two devices simultaneously, making it easy to switch between calls, music, or videos. The Amped Buds also support Google Fast Pair, allowing for quick and seamless pairing with Android devices.
Water and Dust Resistance
- Earbuds: IP54 rating (protection against dust and splashes).
- Charging Case: IPX4 rating (protection from light water splashes).
Impressive Battery Life
- Up to 8 hours of playback (ANC off).
- Up to 4 hours with ANC enabled.
- Total 95-hour battery life with the charging case.
The charging case houses a 1,600mAh battery and can be recharged via a USB Type-C port.
Wireless Charging Case Doubles as a Power Bank
One of the most unique features of the HMD Amped Buds is its wireless charging case, which also functions as a portable power bank. It can charge compatible smartphones like the HMD Skyline or recent iPhone models that support Qi2 wireless charging.
Here’s what the charging case can deliver:
✔ HMD Skyline: 13.8% (wireless), 20.7% (wired).
✔ iPhone 16 Pro: 20% (wireless), 24% (wired).
This feature makes the Amped Buds an excellent choice for users who need an extra power boost on the go.
Final Thoughts: A Feature-Packed TWS for Power Users
With its long battery life, ANC support, dual connectivity, and wireless charging case, the HMD Amped Buds aim to set a new standard for TWS earbuds. Whether you’re a frequent traveler, a gamer, or someone who needs all-day music playback, these earbuds offer a compelling mix of performance and convenience.
Will HMD bring the Amped Buds to India? Only time will tell. Stay tuned for updates!
