Honor has officially introduced its Alpha Plan, a bold strategy to shape the future of AI-powered devices. Announced ahead of Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025, the plan outlines the company’s vision for an open AI ecosystem, emphasizing AI agents, robotics, and artificial general intelligence (AGI).
The Chinese tech brand also revealed new AI-driven innovations, including a next-generation AI imaging technology, an AI-powered PC, and long-term software support for its flagship devices.
Honor’s Three-Step AI Strategy
At the core of the Alpha Plan is a three-step roadmap aimed at integrating AI deeply into consumer technology.
- The Intelligent Phone Era – Honor aims to develop AI-powered smartphones that support agentic AI capabilities, working alongside industry leaders like Google Cloud and Qualcomm.
- The Physical AI Era – Robotics will take center stage as AI moves beyond screens into the real world, requiring an open and collaborative AI ecosystem.
- The AGI Era – The final step envisions artificial general intelligence that can push the limits of human potential.
Honor CEO James Li emphasized the need for collaboration, calling on the industry to unite in tackling AI’s challenges while embracing its vast opportunities.
AI-Powered Innovations Take the Spotlight
Beyond its long-term vision, Honor showcased real-world AI advancements. In partnership with Google Cloud and Qualcomm, the company demonstrated an AI mobile agent capable of making restaurant reservations through third-party services. This smart assistant also integrates with Honor’s calendar and provides real-time travel alerts based on traffic conditions.
Meanwhile, Honor introduced AiMage, a new AI-powered imaging technology. Running on AI Kernel, it combines on-device and cloud-based AI models to enhance image quality. With a 1.3 billion parameter AI model embedded in devices, photos gain 50% better clarity, while a 12.4 billion parameter server-based model improves telephoto image sharpness.
New Features and Devices
Honor’s AI innovations extend beyond smartphones. The company revealed AI Upscale, a tool designed to restore old portraits using advanced AI processing. This feature will debut in March on the Honor Magic 7 Series 1. Honor also teased an AI Deepfake detection tool, set to roll out internationally.
In the laptop segment, Honor introduced the MagicBook Pro 14, an AI-powered PC launching in select global markets.
Long-Term Software Support & Sustainability Goals
Highlighting its commitment to software longevity, Honor announced that its Magic series devices will receive seven years of Android OS and security updates. This extended support starts in the European Union before expanding to other regions.
On the sustainability front, the company reaffirmed its goal to achieve operational carbon neutrality by 2024. By 2050, it plans to extend carbon neutrality across its entire supply chain and product lineup.
With these AI-driven advancements, Honor is positioning itself as a key player in the future of intelligent devices. As MWC 2025 approaches, more details about its AI-powered ecosystem and upcoming devices are expected.
