Samsung is expanding its mid-range lineup with the launch of the Galaxy A26 5G, a more affordable alternative to the newly introduced Galaxy A56 and Galaxy A36. Despite its lower price, this device packs impressive features, including a large Super AMOLED display, durable build, and long-term software support.
Big Display, Durable Build
The Galaxy A26 5G sports a 6.7-inch FHD+ Super AMOLED display with a smooth 120Hz refresh rate and a peak brightness of 1,200 nits, ensuring vivid visuals even under direct sunlight. Corning Gorilla Glass Victus+ provides added durability, while an IP67 rating protects against dust and water damage.
Performance and Hardware
Under the hood, the A26 5G is powered by either the Exynos 1380 (global variant) or the Exynos 1280 (Latin America). These octa-core processors, built on a 5nm process, promise efficient performance for everyday tasks and light gaming. Storage options include 128GB or 256GB, with an option to expand up to 2TB via a microSD card.
A 5,000mAh battery keeps the device running all day, and 25W wired fast charging ensures quick top-ups when needed.
Camera Setup
For photography enthusiasts, the Galaxy A26 5G features a triple-camera system at the rear:
- 50MP main sensor (f/1.8) with OIS for sharp, stable shots
- 8MP ultrawide lens (f/2.2) for capturing more in a frame
- 2MP macro lens (f/2.4) for detailed close-ups
On the front, a 13MP selfie camera is housed in a dew-drop notch, offering crisp, clear self-portraits.
Software and Security
Running on One UI 7 (based on Android 15), the Galaxy A26 5G is designed for a smooth and intuitive user experience. Samsung has also committed to six years of software support, ensuring long-term usability. Security features include a side-mounted fingerprint scanner and NFC for contactless payments.
Connectivity and Other Features
The device supports 5G and 4G LTE, along with Wi-Fi 5, Bluetooth 5.3, and multiple satellite positioning systems for accurate navigation. It comes in Black, Mint, and White color options.
Price and Availability
The Galaxy A26 5G is priced at €299 in Europe, with a global release expected soon. While there’s no official announcement for the Philippine market, Samsung has confirmed that the Galaxy A56 and A36 will be available locally this month.
